Colleen’s BA 5K is June 2!

By GEDS / May 25, 2018

Join the Grace community on Saturday, June 2, when we gather for Colleen’s BA 5K Fun Run/Walk. This event, now in its 5th year, honors the memory of Grace Alumna Colleen Mitchel, Class of 2005, who was born with liver disease (biliary atresia or BA) and died in 2013 at 19 years old from complications from liver disease, while awaiting another liver transplant. Proceeds from the event will support pediatric liver disease research at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and organ donation awareness in our community. Register today at www.colleensba5k.org! Check in begins at 8:00 a.m. and the Run/Walk starts at 9:00 am. We hope you will join us to support this important cause. BA5K 2018 Flyer GEDS

Annual Awards Assembly 2018

By GEDS / May 24, 2018

As our year draws to a close, we enjoy our end of the year traditions. One of our favorites is the Annual Awards Assembly, where we honor our outstanding students and welcome back past winners and other loyal Friends of Grace. Today, we had the pleasure of awarding The Drew Nealley Walkers’ Club Award, The Theolyn Wilson Music Award, and The Daniel Benner Memorial Award. The Drew Nealley Walkers’ Club Award, given in memory of former Grace student Drew Nealley, is awarded to the student who has logged the most walking miles during recess. Students in all grades are eligible for this award. Drew’s parents Eric and Sarah Nealley were on hand to present the award, and several of Drew’s classmates joined us for the ceremony and reception, too. This year’s award went to multiple recipients in Grade 2: Amena Blue, Marleigh Burns, Sanjana Jacob, and Tenley Obando.  These winners…

Spring Musical 2018: Seussical Photos!

By GEDS / May 22, 2018

On Thursday, May 17, Grace was filled with the wonderful sound of music as our Grade 1-5 students performed Seussical Kids! We had a packed multi-purpose room and were thrilled to have so many family members and friends in attendance. Music teacher and fearless leader Mrs. Smith did a fantastic job guiding our students in their roles and helping them shine. Art teacher Ms. Gould created gorgeous sets inspired by Dr. Seuss’s books. Grace parent Jenny O’Brien took our wonderful photos (thank you!). And our Grace students brought all of their joy and animation to the stage! Thanks to everyone who helped make the musical such a fun evening.
