Student Council Speeches 23-24

Each year at Grace, we hold an election for Student Council officers. This student leadership group helps to build culture and community and lead initiatives that can enhance school life. Sometimes, fundraisers and service projects are proposed, and over the years, Student Council has raised funds for many causes they are passionate about supporting.

This year, when students gave speeches as part of the voting process, we were struck by their courage, their vision of our school, and their ideas to make our school even better. One student talked about wanting to help students build healthy friendships. Another mentioned the ‘Grace Mentality’ which includes to be compassionate, do your best, and to never give up.

In addition to uplifting our school’s values, candidates also had exciting ideas like getting a 3D printer, leading an all-school art project, and making the Multi-Purpose Room more inviting. There were wonderful fundraising ideas including a lemonade stand, a car wash, and a bake sale. And our two candidates for Green Representative had a long list of initiatives to make our school more sustainable and environmentally sound.

We are immensely proud of all of our candidates. Their speeches revealed that they value their community and care about belonging being possible for all of us.  We can’t wait to see where our newly elected officers take us with their work this year! All of the speeches can be read here.
