Founders’ Day 2020

We were delighted to welcome many current families, as well as alumni students and families to Founders’ Day as we officially entered our 60th year.

Head of School Jen Danish spoke of the courage and vision of our founder, Jane Wood. Ms. Danish reminded us that hers was more than a bold idea. It was also the leadership to think creatively and expansively about educating young minds. Ms. Danish counted 1000 graduates who have matriculated with a strong sense of identity and appreciation for those different than themselves, students who have developed minds that are nimble, inquisitive, compassionate, and open. Ms. Danish applauded the legacy created by Mrs. Wood – our very special community rich in its diversity, perspective and experience.

Our Keynote Speaker was Wesley Grammer (’14) currently a junior at Our Lady of Good Counsel. He told the audience how grateful he is to have been a Grace student and considers himself a Gryphon for life! He attributed his current academic and athletic success to his teachers at Grace. He encouraged our young students to step out of their comfort zone. He challenged them to do something new maybe even uncomfortable. And, told them that the respect they learn, receive and give while at Grace will serve them.

We enjoyed thoughtful prayers from our Student Council and celebrated faculty anniversaries including 20 year milestones for both Mrs. Kennedy and Mrs. Hamilton.

And it wouldn’t be Founders’ Day without a traditional cake and special candle to for wishing celebrate. Happy Birthday, Grace!
