GEDS Racial Justice Summer Institute: August 3-5, 2022 (12:00-1:30 pm)

Grace Episcopal Day School’s Racial Justice Summer Institute presents Effective Strategies for Talking About Race & Racism in the Preschool to Grade 5 Classroom. We know that young children notice race, but we don’t always know how to engage our students on the topic in healthy and productive ways. You are invited to join Preschool through 5th grade educators for this important program facilitated by Jessy Molina. Our workshop is designed especially for elementary school educators and will focus on engaging young children in conversations about race and racism. Participants will learn about healthy racial identity development, how young children internalize messages about race, and how to have conversations about race with children, and their families, in ways that are age-appropriate, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed. Participation will be virtual on August 3 and August 4 from 12-1:30 pm. There is also an optional in-person day on August 5 from 12-1:30 pm which will include lunch.
