Hilary Stathes

Hilary’s career has focused on creating equitable and effective talent practices at schools progressive nonprofits. She currently serves as the Talent Development Partner at ActBlue, a nonprofit small-dollar donation platform for progressive political candidates and causes. In this role, she is responsible for building inclusive and equitable systems for performance management and professional growth, as well as providing equity and leadership training and coaching to managers across the organization.

Hilary began her career as a middle school Spanish teacher in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she was a Teach For America Corps Member. She was inspired by what great teachers were able to accomplish with their students, and wanted to support efforts to bring more great teachers into classrooms. To that end, while working in Baton Rouge and later at The New Teacher Project, she led several programs designed to recruit and train new teachers in underserved districts, including Teach Baton Rouge, the Baltimore City Teaching Residency, and DC Teaching Fellows. Hilary has also worked directly in schools in the DC area, serving as the Chief Talent Officer at Ingenuity Prep and Recruitment Director at DC Prep. Through these efforts, she has recruited, trained, and supported the certification of hundreds of teachers in low-income schools.

Hilary holds an M.Ed. from Harvard University, and a B.A. from Amherst College, where she double-majored in History and Spanish. She serves as a delegate to the Montgomery County Council of PTAs and – perhaps most importantly – she attended Grace Episcopal Day School from Kindergarten through fourth grade.
